Bow Hunting

Otjandaue started bow hunting in the 2007 hunting season and is a registered bow hunting ranch. We will have 9 waterholes with well equipped bow blinds. We make use of tree hides, ground level hides and hole hides. We have a shooting range 30 m from the guest house where hunters can practise and adjust there bow's over resting periods. Bow hunting is conducted by sitting in blinds and lie in ambush or for the more experienced bow hunter walk and stalk can also be arranged. We try to get within a range of 20 to 30 meters of the animals with a side on shot if possible.

All the species on our prices list is huntable with bow except for leopard, in Namibia none of the big 5 is allowed to be hunted with bow.

Minimum bow energy required:

Small Game ( African Wildcat, Caracal, Jackal, Dik-Dik, Steenbuck, Duiker, Springbuck and huntable game birds) - 25 ft/lb ( 350 grain arrow recommende)
Medium Game ( Baboon, Warthog, Blesbuck, Impala, ) - 40 ft/lb ( 400 grain arrow recommende)
Large Game ( Oryx, Kudu, Hartebeest, Eland, Blue/Black Wildebeest, Giraffe, Waterbuck and Zebra) - 65 ft/lb ( 450 grain arrow recommended)

We recommend that you use fixed broad heads with carbon fibre arrows. We have a spare bow for hire should you have any difficulty with your bow during the hunt. Bows can be imported without a permit and can pass as luggage.
